Nashville-area Business Owners to Participate in National Green Builds Business Program
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation today announced its signature Green Builds Business Program will make its next stop in Nashville, Tenn. on November 15 & 16, 2011 at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel. The Green Builds Business Program, a national initiative of the USHCC Foundation and underwritten by Walmart, is designed to educate Hispanic entrepreneurs about the concepts and best practices related to environmental sustainability in business.
The USHCC Foundation and its co-host, the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will select 20 small businesses from the area to participate in the two-day training program. The selected business owners will be coached on best practices for lowering operating costs, increasing revenues and motivating workers by incorporating green sustainable efforts into their overall business plans.
"Through its growing number of programs, initiatives and summits, Nashville has shown tremendous advancements in the area of sustainability and those conscious efforts surrounding environmental issues made it an ideal city to introduce our Green Builds Business program," says Javier Palomarez, USHCC President and CEO. "As area businesses continue to grow, it is increasingly important that they also continue to incorporate green initiatives into their establishments, and we are confident that our selected participants will absorb the valuable training provided and put it to work in their community."
At least one business will be selected to receive up to 24 hours of one-on-one green coaching from Bill Roth, Green Business Coach for Entrepreneur.com and Founder of Earth 2017. Roth will help business owners to formulate a green business plan or implement a green project that holds the potential of creating jobs, growing profits and reducing emissions this year.
"It is time to take firm and decisive steps towards building the foundations for a green economy and so we are excited about our partnership with the USHCC Foundation to bring Green Builds Business to Nashville," says Yuri Cunza, President & CEO of the Nashville Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. "Green Builds Business will lead selected participants of our burgeoning Hispanic business community to become pioneers at the forefront of the green revolution."
