NASCO Celebrates 25 Years in the Healthcare Industry and is Named One of the AJC's Top Workplaces for 2012
ATLANTA, April 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Today NASCO is happy to celebrate 25 years in the healthcare industry. Formed April 24, 1987, through a partnership among several Blue Cross® and Blue Shield® (BCBS) Plans, NASCO provides information technology solutions designed to ensure that Plan members' insurance claims are paid accurately and efficiently.
Over the last 25 years, NASCO has earned the reputation of being an industry leader in closing the healthcare payer gap by exclusively offering BCBS Plans a total payer solution – an integrated claims processing system, a highly configurable membership solution and a multitude of performance-based services. NASCO's solution is designed to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs for all of their Plans.
NASCO's integrated claims processing system has handled over 1 billion claims for all lines of business: individual, state, local, small group, large group, government and national. It is unsurpassed in the market for reliability, flexibility, scalability and operational performance. Currently, NASCO processes claims on behalf of over 16 million BCBS members. And by the year 2014, NASCO will be responsible for processing healthcare claims for approximately one in every ten privately insured Americans.
"Celebrating 25 years of success and service is a huge accomplishment, which I directly attribute to the incredible talent and diversity of our associates," said Barbara Bell-Dees, Vice President of People Services. "We started in 1987 with only 11 associates and today we employ nearly 600 associates who devote their time and talents to help NASCO serve our Plans and the more than 16 million Americans they represent. Their hard work is a testament to our success."
In addition to celebrating this momentous anniversary, NASCO is honored to be ranked number 7 in the Atlanta Journal Constitution's (AJC) Top Workplaces of 2012 competition for midsize companies. Each year the AJC works with WorkplaceDynamics to determine Atlanta's top companies through employee surveys. For the 2012 superlatives, over 1,000 companies were nominated, 188 were chosen to receive surveys, and only 100 earned the distinction of being one of Atlanta's Top Workplaces (http://ajc.topworkplaces.com/company_pub/nasco_atlanta/ajc).
"As Barbara mentioned, we attribute our success to the associates who work at NASCO. Their commitment to this company is one of the many reasons we are in the top 10," stated NASCO's Chief Executive Officer, John Ladaga.
"We are very proud to have a quarter of a century of success under our belt and to be recognized as an AJC Top Workplace. Our success and focus on closing the payer gap over the last 25 years has uniquely positioned us to help our BCBS Plan customers prepare for and implement the significant changes associated with healthcare reform. Our mission is to help our customers build a better healthcare system for America. NASCO is committed, our associates are committed and our customers are committed, and together we are making a difference for millions of Americans. That's a great way to celebrate 25 years," remarked Ladaga.
