NASA Awards Engineering and Technology Support Services Contract
WASHINGTON, April 30 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NASA has awarded a sole source bridge contract for Multidisciplinary Engineering and Technology Support, or METS, services to Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies (SGT), Inc. of Greenbelt, Md.

The maximum ordering value of the cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract is $49 million. The ordering period is May 1, 2010, through January 31, 2011. This bridge contract action has been implemented to sustain performance until the METS II follow-on contract is awarded, which is expected by July 2010.
Under this contract, SGT performs tasks necessary for the formulation, design, development, flight and non-flight fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of spaceflight and ground system hardware and software. Tasks include development and validation of new technologies to enable future missions in support of the Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md.
Task orders issued under the METS contract provide critical support to a wide range of NASA's missions and projects including: the James Webb Space Telescope; Geostationary Environmental Operational Satellites-R; Ice, Cloud, and Land Elevation Satellite II; Landsat Data Continuity Mission; Magnetospheric Multi-Scale Satellites; Global Precipitation Measurement mission; Glory mission; and others.
