WASHINGTON, March 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NASA has awarded a contract to Science Systems and Applications, Inc., of Lanham, Md., to provide atmospheric-sciences support services.

This is a cost-plus fixed-fee indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract with a maximum ordering value of $103 million. The period of performance, including the phase-in period, is from April 1, 2012, through April 30, 2017. This is a follow-on contract and a small business set-aside acquisition.
The contractor will support projects that encompass all aspects of design, development, testing, maintaining, calibrating and operating suborbital instruments for atmospheric and solar observations. Additional support will be provided to aid the implementation, formulation and operation of satellite missions and the preparation of research proposals, publications and manuscripts. The contract also will support computing and software engineering efforts for NASA-funded researchers using high-end computing resources.
The work will be performed at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md., on behalf of the Earth Science Division at NASA Headquarters, Washington.
