NASA Administrator to Tour Space Lab, Speak at University of Colorado-Boulder

WASHINGTON, April 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NASA Administrator Charles Bolden will tour the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) and speak with students and faculty at the University of Colorado-Boulder on Friday, Apr. 18.

Bolden will tour the LASP Space Technology Research Center at 8:45 a.m. MT, and hold a media availability at the conclusion of the tour. The lab currently is involved with a number of NASA planetary and solar science missions, including spacecraft now en route to Mars, as well a $32 million instrument package flying on NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory to help scientists better understand and mitigate damage from severe space weather.

Media also are invited to attend an aerospace engineering project demonstration class with Bolden involving students, faculty and industry representatives on campus at 1:30 p.m.

At 2:45 p.m., Bolden will give a free public talk at CU-Boulder's East Stadium Club on America's space program and the challenges and opportunities the space agency will encounter as it moves through the 21st century.
