Naropa Professor Deborah Bowman to Speak at TEDxBoulder
Lessons in the Power of Letting Go After Near-Fatal Ice Climbing Accident
BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Naropa University today announced that Deborah Bowman, professor and founder of the university's Transpersonal Counseling Psychology and Wilderness Therapy programs, has been selected to present at this year's TEDxBoulder. TEDxBoulder will take place on Saturday, September 27; additional speaker and event information is available at http://2014.tedxboulder.com.
Bowman joins such speakers as Director of B Lab Colorado, Kim Coupounas; restaurateur Bobby Stuckey; and astronaut Dan Durda. Amid hundreds of applications for this year's TEDxBoulder, Bowman's story resonated deeply with the selection committee.
Bowman's presentation, "Falling into Grace," recounts the gripping story of her near-fatal ice climbing fall, in which she lost her right eye, yet gained a greater vision for living. In exploring the psychological and spiritual dimensions of her near-death experience, Bowman has inspired others to wake up from the illusion of separation and the sleep of self-destruction. Bowman will also share her lessons on gleaning wisdom from mistakes through the grace of presence, gratitude, and letting go.
