MELVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA) announced today that Sonia Szlyk, MD, Director of Regional Anesthesia for NAPA's mid-Atlantic region will be a featured speaker at the American College of Perioperative Medicine's Interdisciplinary Conference on Orthopedic Value-Based Care. As one of 21 world-renowned, multi-disciplinary faculty speakers, Dr. Szlyk will be presenting two lectures addressing topics related to regional anesthesia and bundled payment programs. The event will be held January 21-22, 2017 at the Island Hotel Newport Beach in Newport Beach, CA.

Regional Anesthesia for Chronic Joint Replacement/ Multimodal Premeds & Chronic Pain Patients
During this presentation, Dr. Szlyk will highlight the benefits of opioid-sparing regional anesthesia techniques including peripheral nerve blocks and spinal anesthesia in optimal care pathways for total knee and hip replacement patients.
January 22 - "Implementing New Clinical Models (ERAS/PSH)" Track
Choosing the Right Metrics – Was the Program Successful?
During this presentation, Dr. Szlyk will discuss how to evaluate the progress of a bundled payments program, what parameters have the biggest impact on success and offer strategies on how to salvage an unsuccessful program.
Dr. Szlyk has served as a clinical instructor in regional anesthesia at Stanford University Hospital in Stanford, CA. She is an accomplished lecturer and educator specializing in ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks and catheters with specialization in pain management modalities for joint replacement, sports medicine, general and cosmetic surgery. She is board-certified in anesthesiology and an active member of the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
