Nanomechanics to Host Educational Webinar Series
Explore information related to the theory and practice in the field of nanoindentation
OAK RIDGE, Tenn., June 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Nanomechanics Inc., a leading provider of innovative tools designed to enable users to understand, evaluate, and test the mechanical performance of materials at the micro- and nano-levels, is set to launch a new monthly webinar series on Wednesday, June 22.
The upcoming webinar on theory and practice of instrumented indentation will serve as the foundation for the series presented by Jennifer Hay, Senior Applications Engineer for Nanomechanics, Inc. The inaugural lecture will explain how test and measurement relates to science before offering in-depth analysis of the unique advantages of instrumented indentation. Attendees will be able to delve into information related to the applications of testing and measuring, along with other topics related to the nanoindentation field.
Jennifer Hay of Nanomechanics Inc. holds a masters' degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston and has worked in the field of nanoindentation since 1996, advancing standardization and developing methodology for new applications. She presently serves as the vice-chair for the MEMS/Nanomechanics technical division of the Society of Experimental Mechanics. In addition to many publications, she has authored five invited journal articles on the theory and practice of instrumented indentation.
Hay will be educating webinar attendees on the following:
- Why do materials behave differently when confined to a small volume?
- What is instrumented indentation, and how is it used today?
- How is instrumented indentation different from a micro hardness test?
"Instrumented indentation, also called nanoindentation, has developed over the last three decades as the technique of choice for measuring the mechanical properties of thin films and other small volumes of material," said John Swindeman, CEO at Nanomechanics Inc.
"We are thrilled to offer our expertise in this dedicated monthly webinar series. Our goal for introducing, and the continuation of our educational series, is to provide the most current information to our customers as well as those working in this field and enable them to engage with our team to ask questions on these topics."
This exclusive webinar series is available by invitation only. To access the inaugural webinar educational series, hosted by Nanomechanics Inc. on Wednesday, June 22 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET, click here to request your invitation.
