OAK RIDGE, Tenn., April 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Nanomechanics, Inc., the world's leading provider of nano-mechanical testing equipment, is hosting an educational webinar on Wednesday, April 19, from noon to 1 p.m. EDT. The webinar will be presented by Jennifer Hay, senior applications engineer for Nanomechanics, Inc.
Entitled "Complex Shear Modulus of Gelatin and Soft Biological Tissue," the webinar will cover how biological tissue and simulants can be characterized by instrumented indentation using test methods for polymers. However, if the experiment is not well designed, the measured response can easily be dominated by the instrument, not the contact. Uncertainty analysis provides guidance for the selection of punch diameter. Or, if the punch diameter cannot be changed, uncertainty analysis tells us the most compliant material which can be tested with that punch. The analysis and test method are demonstrated for edible gelatin and bovine muscle tissue.
Nanomechanics is comprised of scientists and engineers with unparalleled expertise in materials science. Prior webinars on various aspects of nanoindentation have been widely attended and well received; recordings of past webinars are freely available through Nanomechanics' website. "This is the best series of its kind," reported one attendee, Dr. Devendra Verma, applications engineer for Nanoscience, Inc.
"We encourage you to attend if you are responsible for developing or qualifying materials," said John Swindeman, CEO at Nanomechanics, Inc. "Jennifer explains nanoindentation in a way that anyone can understand it."
Register today to attend Session 10: Complex Shear Modulus of Gelatin and Soft Biological Tissue, on Wednesday, April 19 at noon EDT.
