NanoMarkets Announces September 6, 2012 Date for Teleconference Call on OLED Materials
GLEN ALLEN, Va., Aug. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets today announced the date of an upcoming teleconference that will present NanoMarkets' findings from the firm's recent report, "OLED Materials Markets 2012" that was released in July of this year. The author of the report, Dr. Jill Simpson will present her insights into the opportunities available to suppliers of materials used in OLED displays and OLED lighting and how the supply chain and overall market is evolving. The event will take place on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10 AM EDT (-5:00 GMT). Persons interested in attending the event can register at www.nanomarkets.net/events
Points to be addressed on the call will include:
- Small active matrix OLED displays dominate the market today, and will do so for the next several years. However, even in smaller displays, there is a shift toward larger panel sizes with the increasing importance of tablets. This trend has created a truly booming market for OLED materials suppliers, because both the number of OLED displays and the average panel sizes are increasing. Today, the most important customer for OLED materials suppliers is Samsung, but other panel makers are getting into the market, too, making the addressable market bigger.
- The emergence of OLED TVs is also poised to change the market. Here again, panel sizes are big, which is good news for materials suppliers. But the technical demands on materials are also getting bigger. For OLED TVs to succeed, the market needs all-phosphorescent emitter systems with longer lifetimes.
- OLED lighting could be the biggest addressable market for materials in the future, even though the technology still struggling to get going. Today, OLED lighting remains the realm of specialty kits and luxury lamps, but the next two or three years will be critical for proving that OLED lighting can compete in a wider general illumination market. To do so, higher efficiencies and longer lifetimes are still needed. In addition, there is much work to be done to prove that larger OLED lighting panels can be cost-effectively manufactured on a large scale with reasonable yields.
- Just as importantly, the OLED industry is talking about a shift toward solution processing for manufacturing in order to realize low cost. To enable this shift, the technical performance attained with today's market-dominant vacuum-deposited materials must be translated into inks, coatings, and patterning methods.
- The call will also discuss materials utilization and pricing trends in the OLED industry, as well as the importance of joint development/commercialization efforts and intellectual property arrangements for the use of phosphorescent materials.
- This conference call will also discuss the evolution of the latest NanoMarkets' market data on OLED materials. We will review how vapor-deposited materials, solution processed small molecules, and polymers are expected to do in the marketplace. We will also provide our views on what's next for substrates, electrodes, and encapsulation technologies in the OLED industry.
A copy of the written transcript of the event will be made available afterwards.
The call will last approximately 45 minutes.
