NAMI Pennsylvania Announces Program for Annual Statewide Conference

HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 19, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- More than 500 Pennsylvanians are expected to attend the 2011 Annual Conference of The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Pennsylvania (NAMI PA). This year's theme is "Promoting Health and Wellness: Managing Your Illness." The conference, which is open to the public, will take place Thursday, October 27th through Sunday, October 30th, 2011 at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East.
Approximately one in five Pennsylvanians are affected by serious mental illness. These illnesses have no limits striking individuals of any age and race.
For the eighth consecutive year, the conference will include a special emphasis on mental health within the criminal justice system, a growing challenge for families and mental health advocates. This year's theme, "Restorative Justice, Mental Illness and Recovery: A Model for the Criminal Justice System: Alternatives to Incarceration" will proudly feature Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, John E Wetzel as the keynote speaker (Thursday, October 27, 8:45 am – 9:45 am).
