Namecheap Announces Fifth Annual MoveYourDomainDay
LOS ANGELES, Feb. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The fifth annual MoveYourDomainDay occurs February 2, 2016. Leading domain registrar Namecheap launched the event in 2012, to give online domain owners an opportunity to support efforts aimed at protecting internet users' rights to privacy and access. Namecheap annually donates a portion of sales to online watchdog group the Electronic Frontier Foundation on MoveYourDomainDay.
Support for Online Rights & Privacy
The Electronic Frontier Foundation (or "EFF") is the world's largest advocate for internet freedom. EFF monitors online privacy issues, assists persons who have been fined or jailed without due process, and flags government or corporate policies that have the potential to infringe on internet users' rights. EFF seeks to protect the ability to speak and share freely online without forced or secret interference from third parties. More information about EFF is available at https://www.eff.org.
EFF Activism Director Rainey Reitman had this to say: "It's a combination of education and advocacy that lets regular people get involved in these pressing fights for liberty."
Discounts on Domain Transfers
To encourage donations and support for EFF, Namecheap offers reduced pricing on domain transfers throughout MoveYourDomainDay. During the one-day event, clients may transfer a domain name from another registrar to Namecheap for the reduced price of $3.98. Along with the transfer, each client will receive a one-year SSL certificate to secure the domain against fraud and tampering, as well as one free year of Private Email service. Visit Namecheap on Feb. 2 to participate.
Tiered Donation Structure
For every domain transferred – up to 10,000 – on MoveYourDomainDay 2016, Namecheap will donate $0.50 to EFF. The donation amount goes up to $1.00 per domain if the number of domains transferred exceeds 10,000. If sales exceed 20,000 domains transferred, Namecheap will donate $1.50 per each.
