NACD Partners with Broadridge to Enhance Director/Board Education About Proxy Process, Shareholder Communications
Broadridge to Underwrite NACD's Boardroom Excellence Webinar Series on Issues Impacting Corporate Directors
WASHINGTON, July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), the only membership organization dedicated to advancing exemplary board leadership, is partnering with Broadridge, a leading provider of securities processing and investor communications services, to support the Association's goal of expanding education initiatives that help corporate boards improve communication with shareholders.
"Increased shareowner engagement, potential new legislation and technological advancements are converging to alter the proxy process as we know it today," said Ken Daly, president and CEO of NACD. "NACD is pleased to welcome Broadridge as a program partner to help our member directors and boards understand the implications of this evolving process and strengthen their own board-shareholder communications."
"NACD plays a critical role in advancing board leadership in a dynamic and demanding environment," said Rich Daly, CEO of Broadridge. "Broadridge is delighted to support NACD's efforts with respect to the role technology plays in providing directors, management and shareholders with more transparent information and with additional, efficient and effective means of communication. Innovative technologies and social media are dramatically changing the way boards garner information and sentiment from shareholders and they are opening up new lines of communication that significantly enhance transparency for all market participants."
Broadridge's Daly will join a panel of institutional investor representatives and Fortune 500 board members on the subject of board-shareholder communications at the NACD Corporate Governance Conference, October 17-19 in Washington, DC (NACDonline.org/conference). Other conference speakers include Duncan Niederauer, President of the New York Stock Exchange, and SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro. Broadridge will also underwrite NACD's Boardroom Excellence Webinar Series of web-based programs for corporate directors, with a particular focus on the role of nominating governance committee chairs, board chairs and lead directors. This series, beginning September 2010, will be offered on the first Wednesday of each month at Noon Eastern and will focus on hot button issues such as board composition, director nominations, proxy disclosures and other board-shareholder communications.
