ARLINGTON, Va., Nov. 22, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- NACD announced yesterday that it has named Eric Byer as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Association effective January 1, 2014. Byer comes to NACD from Obadal, Filler, MacLeod & Klein, PLC where he served as Senior Vice President leading association programs for the firms largest clients.

Prior to that Byer was the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President, Government & Industry Affairs at the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) where he lead external affairs and internal operations for the $6.1 million organization.

Over the last decade, Byer has driven initiatives aimed at expanding the association's brand, financial growth, and expanded legislative engagement. Most recently at Obadal, Filler, Byer crafted a new strategic plan, oversaw advertising campaigns, initiated new training programs and developed a new membership drive. Prior to that at NATA, he increased the Association's name recognition before Congress and appeared before several Congressional panels as the industry spokesman. He built a new membership program, grew the association's reserves, improved the effectiveness of the membership database, and developed new social media presence for NATA. Prior to his service at NATA, Byer was a senior government relations coordinator of the Smith, Bucklin & Associates, and before that he served as a staff member in two Congressional offices.
