ARLINGTON, Va., March 14, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) proudly announces Millchem as its first regular distributor member located outside of North America. Headquartered in Harare, Zimbabwe, Millchem passed NACD's Responsible Distribution® Document Verification in February 2014. This fulfills Millchem's candidacy period as a member of NACD.
Millchem joins other international chemical distribution companies such as Pochteca Materia Primas S.A. de C.V. (Mexico), CCC (Canada), Debro Chemicals (Canada) and Thames River Chemical Corp. (Canada) in electing to comply with NACD's Responsible Distribution® program, a third-party verification program that requires members to continuously improve performance in the environment, health, safety and security (EHS&S). Passing Responsible Distribution verification is a condition of membership with NACD.
"We are thrilled to include Millchem in our list of good-standing members in compliance with Responsible Distribution," commented Eric R. Byer, President of NACD. "Millchem's membership with the association confirms NACD's Responsible Distribution is an internationally accepted and accredited EHS&S program in the industry worldwide."
Graeme Barr, Managing Director of Millchem Zimbabwe notes, "Millchem is proud to be the first African member of NACD. This membership provides Millchem customers with a verified guarantee of global best practices in terms of industrial processes and quality assurance, as well as health, safety and environmental care."
Vanessa Mpofu, the supply chain manager of Millchem Zimbabwe comments, "We have been working intensively for more than a year with the NACD Responsible Distribution Mentor to get policies and procedures defined and implemented. Last month passed the verification. This is a huge step forward for our organization, and now we are confident that we are really working with a quality EHS&S Management system."
Cambria Africa Plc, quoted on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange, is a long-term, active investment company, building a portfolio of investments primarily in Southern Africa. Cambria's Millchem division was founded in 1983 and initially supplied chemicals to the glass and textiles industries. The success and growth of the company has seen expansion into more industries and as such positioned Millchem as a supplier of specialized chemicals and machinery.
