WASHINGTON, April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Native American Contractors Association (NACA) Board of Directors is excited to announce that Michael "Keawe" Anderson has been hired as the NACA Executive Director.
The selection process for the incoming NACA Executive Director reached across the national stage and garnered a strong pool of candidates. After an extensive interview process, the NACA Board of Directors selected Mr. Anderson to lead NACA and further its mission of serving its Members.
Mr. Anderson is a Native Hawaiian, born and raised on Maui. A retired Air Force colonel, he brings valuable leadership experience to help guide NACA and its Members in protecting and advancing our priorities with Congress, the Administration, and federal agencies. After retirement, he was selected as the Chief of Staff to U.S. Congressman Don Young (R-AK) where he developed national level policies and programs, and managed successful campaigns.
Following his work on Capitol Hill, Mr. Anderson worked for Chugach Alaska Corporation where he gained first-hand experience with the opportunities and challenges facing community-owned small businesses in the federal marketplace as president of a Native 8(a) subsidiary. He later became their Washington, D.C. business development and marketing representative, facilitating relationships with federal agencies, associations, and businesses in the region. He culminated his experience in government contracting serving as Chugach's government relations director where he worked with NACA to advocate for Native economic and business development interests and priorities on Capitol Hill.

On Monday, April 27, 2015, Mr. Anderson began leading the NACA energetic Washington, D.C.-based staff including Legislative Director Dennis Worden, Member Services & External Affairs Director Ricki McCarroll, Legislative Assistant Chelsea Wilson, Events Manager Heidi Franklin and Administrative Assistant Rachel Miranda.
NACA is a national Native advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C., and represents Tribal, Alaska Native Corporations, and Native Hawaiian Organizations across the country. NACA seeks to protect the economic self-sufficiency of America's indigenous people that is enhanced through the participation of its Members in the SBA 8(a) program. NACA Members represent and provide benefits for nearly 700,000 Tribal members, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians.
