ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa., Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Naaman Center, a provider of outpatient treatment and care, and Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge, an addiction treatment and recovery facility, join forces to deliver addiction treatment that is accessible and affordable. This partnership provides opportunities for both organizations to move into geographic areas in need of services for individuals suffering from substance use disorder.
"We are thrilled with this amazing opportunity to join Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge and expand our reach and breadth. Our hearts are aligned to see as many as possible live in freedom from addictions. Together we can do even more to impact our region," said Steven J. Schedler, Executive Director of Naaman Center.
"Partnering with Naaman Center will help us expand our programs and serve as complementary services to our long-term, faith-centered program, allowing us to offer expanded levels of care in order to serve an ever-increasing demographic of individuals in need of our care," said Kris McFadden, Sr., President & CEO of Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge. "We are excited to join with Naaman Center to build upon our existing comprehensive continuum of care and together continue to nurture the whole person—body, mind and spirit of those we serve."
The organizations have a shared faith-based heritage. Naaman Center was established in 1990 as an outpatient program for drug and alcohol treatment in Elizabethtown, PA. Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge was established in 1962 by the late Rev. David Wilkerson, in Rehrersburg, PA as a long-term residential faith-centered provider of drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. In early 2017, Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge opened the first medical detox for men in the history of Teen Challenge in the United States. Recently, Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge opened the first women's medical detox wing in the history of Teen Challenge nationally.
The partnership aligns with strategic plans to expand the programs and services both organizations offer. To best achieve this goal, Naaman Center will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge. Their respective Boards of Directors have approved the transaction and it is pending review by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, which oversees changes in nonprofit governance. Naaman Center and Pennsylvania Adult & Teen Challenge welcome input from the community; questions or comments should be directed to [email protected] and/or [email protected], or to the Attorney General's Office of Charitable Giving on or before 12/1/18.
