n-tech Research Issues New Report on Dye Sensitized Cell (DSC) Panel Market
GLEN ALLEN, Va., July 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Industry analyst firm n-tech Research today announced the release of a new report titled "Dye Sensitized Cell Markets: 2016-2025." This new report states that the market for solar panels based dye sensitized cell technology and used in portable charging devices, building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), retail applications, the automotive industry and the military will reach almost $220 million in revenues in 2021 and go on to around $875 million by 2025.

About the report:
This report identifies the current and future commercial potential for DSC and pinpoints the opportunities that n-tech sees emerging over the next decade. n-tech believes that the use of perovskites for DSC cells and DSC's cost/performance advantages in markets that have traditionally been dominated by amorphous silicon (a-Si) will boost DSC revenues. The report also indicates that there is now a strong incentive to invest in the future of DSC technology.
The report shows how the latest developments in both DSC materials and cell design is moving DSC towards significant deployment. This new study also contains detailed ten-year market forecasts of DSC in revenue and volume terms with breakouts by end-user sector and by materials used.
In addition, the report contains strategic profiles of the leading firms in the DSC space including an assessment of their marketing and manufacturing strategies. Companies discussed in report include 3G Solar, BASF, Dyesol, Exeger, Fujikura, G24 Power, Merck, Nissha Printing, Oxford Photovoltaics, Peccell, Solaronix, Sony, Umicore and others.
From the report:
The report projects that the BIPV business will start to flourish over the next five years and will help create significant demand for DSC panels. In 2021, n-tech expects to see almost 40 MW of DSC delivered for BIPV applications, which will be well over half the DSC shipments that year. In addition to DSC's relatively high-energy conversion efficiency other factors that make DSC attractive in the BIPV market include the fact that DSC panels can easily be fabricated to deliver diverse colors, shapes and transparency. The report projects that almost 425 MW of DSC will be shipped by 2025.
This report also appraises the commercial significance of recent technical developments in the DSC space, especially the emergence of improved electrolytes both solid-state and liquid. n-tech also expects major improvements in manufacturing of DSC panels to occur. While the market for DSC materials will most likely remain a niche, many of the materials used in DSC panels – dyes and ionic liquids, for example – have other applications.
Therefore, for many specialty chemical and substrate firms, DSC will provide a significant opportunity for selling materials that they already have in their catalogs. And in some cases, this opportunity is quite significant because some of the chemicals associated with DSC are sold in R&D quantities.
