Myspace Continues Evolution As The Premier Music-Focused Social Network With New Music Partnerships, Improved Mobile Capabilities And Enhanced User Experience
Enhancements to Further Support Audience Growth of 170 Percent over Past Six Months
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Myspace today unveiled a series of platform enhancements designed to deliver on its commitment to providing an engaging and social user experience for music fans around the world. New partnerships with digital music networks and user experience improvements combine to advance users' ability to discover new artists and enable musicians to strengthen connections with fans.
The latest components of the Myspace platform evolution include:
- New Music Distribution Partnerships: Myspace is forging partnerships with the world's largest music networks, starting with Vevo. These new partnerships will allow users to access more video and audio content through multiple devices and platforms.
- Mobile Enhancements: Myspace's premium content is now available for mobile users to seamlessly stream and enjoy their music, music videos and original Myspace content wherever they may be.
"Myspace is focused on connecting artists to fans and creating avenues for music lovers to identify new artists while also helping musicians effectively communicate with fans," said Ron Nielsen, General Manager, Myspace. "As technology advances, our platform will continue to evolve to deliver on consumer adoption of these trends. We are dedicated to providing our loyal fans and those who have yet to re-discover the platform with the best capabilities and functionality."
"With our new partnership, we're able to bring Vevo music videos, live concert events and original shows to Myspace's website and apps," said Rio Caraeff, President and CEO, Vevo. "We're excited about this collaboration between two of the world's biggest music platforms because it will offer more choice and discovery opportunities for music fans."
Since re-launching in mid-2013, the Myspace platform has made significant technology and design aesthetic updates. In the past six months alone (March through August 2014), unique monthly audience numbers grew 170 percent to 35.1 million (comScore data). Myspace is also seeing users spend more time on the site, with video views alone averaging at 84 minutes per month per user, a 20 minute increase from the average throughout March. The company attributes this growth to its focus on creating and distributing unique video and editorial content in addition to optimizing how users are able to engage.
Myspace's commitment to fans extends beyond the digital space, and the brand has re-launched its fabled "Secret Show" live experience. Working with popular and up-and-coming artists, Myspace hosts pop-up performances, giving music fans surprise concerts at venues across the U.S. On Oct. 6, Myspace hosted a show in Los Angeles with Rixton. Other recent performances include Wiz Khalifa and Spoon. Music lovers can follow @Myspace for the latest updates on the Secret Show series.
