MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., March 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In response to recent ocean water quality testing, Brad Dean, president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, issued the following statement:
"These most recent water quality tests confirm what most of us already knew: the ocean water in the Myrtle Beach area is clean and safe. This fact was never in question.
However, due to a campaign of innuendo and misinformation, visitors became concerned, and these tests were necessary to address their concerns and protect our number one industry: tourism. We regret that any of our visitors were misled by those who don't seem to care for accuracy, truth, and facts.
We are very thankful that our state and local government partners took quick, decisive action. These tests prove two indisputable truths: the ocean water in the Myrtle Beach area is clean and safe, and not everything you read on the Internet is true."
