MyRounding and AORN Announce Partnership
AORN selects MyRounding to create a mobile application to support the AORN Guidelines
DENVER, March 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MyRounding and the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) today announced their partnership to create "myAORNguidelines," a new product that will enable operating room managers and administrators to analyze and sustain compliance with AORN's evidence based Guidelines for Perioperative Practice.
This SaaS-based product is built on the HIPAA-compliant MyRounding platform to reduce the amount of work and time that is required to audit, report and give feedback; it automatically identifies the gap between how guidelines are being implemented and optimal adherence to the most current AORN Guidelines. Further, it has a powerful issue management function that allows for practice issues to be identified, assigned, tracked and monitored. myAORNguidelines helps OR directors, managers and nurses with the implementation of the AORN Guidelines. Through the intuitive interface users can collect and organize data for quality assessments as well as monitoring adherence to policies and procedures.
"This is an exciting partnership for the MyRounding team," said Tony Gorski, CEO of MyRounding. "We are excited to join with AORN in the creation of an easy-to-use mobile application for the AORN Guidelines. In addition, we will be creating an industry benchmark to measure compliance with the AORN Guidelines to help improve the quality of patient care."
"We are extremely pleased to be partnering with the MyRounding team," said Linda Groah, MSN RN CNOR NEA-BC FAAN, CEO/Executive Director of AORN. "The myAORNguidelines product is being developed directly in response to the needs and requests of our perioperative nurse members. It's an important complement to evidence based practice."
The AORN Guidelines are evidence based and define optimal patient care for surgical patients. While they have generally been used to measure compliance, it has been left to each facility to create their own audit and compliance tools. The myAORNguidelines mobile application represents a new audit tool that is systematized and offers a unique approach to monitoring implementation and compliance with the AORN Guidelines across the perioperative care continuum.
The product will initially feature functionality and capabilities built around the following four guidelines: (1) Hand Hygiene; (2) Preoperative Patient Skin Antisepsis; (3) Cleaning and Care of Surgical Instruments; and (4) Sterilization.
Currently in the final stages of development, the product is slated to be released in the summer of 2015.
