myLIFTER Turns to Kickstarter to Give People a "Smart" Lifter for Garages
-- The myLIFTER is the first smart lifter for lifting and storing heavy and awkward items in garages --
PROVO, Utah, Dec. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- myLIFTER has turned to Kickstarter to bring its smart, motorized lifter to the masses. myLIFTER is designed to solve two problems: eliminate wasted space in garages and other areas, and, two, by helping users lift and lower heavy or large items with a Bluetooth LE device or smartphone.
For its 35-day Kickstarter campaign, myLIFTER has set a goal of $50,000 and anticipates bringing the product to the market by May 2014. Kickstarter backers can join the campaign by visiting the project here.
"The idea for myLIFTER came shortly after trying to lift and store my kayak by myself," said Jerome Miles, myLIFTER inventor and engineer by trade. "Though it wasn't heavy, the size of it made it difficult to lift and store. I soon realized I wanted a product that would help smartphone users easily lift and make wasted space in a garage very useable."
Compact and Strong
myLIFTER is 3.5" by 4.5" by 4.5" (slightly larger than an adult fist), and weighs only two pounds, making it easy for one person to install. Despite its small size, each myLIFTER can lift items weighing up to 50 pounds and is ideal for lifting and storing bicycles, kayaks and cargo boxes. Additionally, users can install multiple myLIFTERs together to lift larger items and control them with one device.
Easy to Install
myLIFTER was designed to be easy to install and comes with a lightweight bracket that you mount on the ceiling. After it is mounted on the ceiling the myLIFTER is set in place using two pins.
Bluetooth LE Compatible
myLIFTER uses Bluetooth LE to communicate with iOS smart devices. Current iOS devices that support Bluetooth LE consist of iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C, all iPad minis, iPod touch 5th generation, and all iPads beginning with the third generation. For users that don't have a Bluetooth LE device, the company will sell a separate remote to use with the myLIFTER.
SmartLIFT
Using the SmartLIFT feature in the myLIFTER app, users can easily program the beginning and ending lift points so they can touch the button on the app and immediately the myLIFTER knows when to stop when it's raising and lowering items.
Safety
myLIFTER has safety features built into the product and doesn't allow users to raise items that exceed the 50-pound weight limit. It also has an internal brake system that locks the spool when it's not moving or if it loses power.
