LAS VEGAS and BEDFORD, Mass., Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Myfox today announced it has selected VoltDB to perform real-time analysis of the data collected through the new Myfox Security System and Myfox Security Camera. Under the terms of the agreement, Myfox will use VoltDB's fast data capabilities to provide real-time analysis to improve the effectiveness of home security systems and help deter home invasions.
As a result of the expanded capabilities of the smartphone, there has been significant growth in the smart home industry. Connected devices, which are able to interact with everything from major appliances to heating and home security systems, have created a demand for real-time data processing. Fast data enables actionable intelligence – in real time – for remote access to home security, giving homeowners' peace of mind.
"With all the technology available, it is time to move beyond the conventional security system to make home security live up to its promise of keeping people's homes safe," said Myfox CEO Jean-Marc Prunet. "Myfox chose VoltDB because it is a scalable, high-performance tool for real-time decision making in a sensitive market. VoltDB's ability to analyze data streaming in from the system's sensors in real time ensures accuracy and puts security back into the user's hands."
The Myfox Security System and Myfox Security Camera, unveiled at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show, put deterrence at the forefront, and is the only smart home security system with the ability to prevent break-ins before they happen. The system's IntelliTAG™ sensors for doors and windows rely on multiple sensors and advanced algorithms to analyze variances in surface vibrations. This differentiates normal events, like a knock at the door, from potential dangers such as a window being pried open with a crowbar. Users, and trusted neighbors, friends or family members, are able to receive alerts, monitor and operate the security system through a dedicated smartphone app.
"When it comes to something as important as home security, receiving data even a few minutes too late can have a devastating effect on homeowners," said VoltDB President and CEO Bruce Reading. "Myfox harnesses the power of VoltDB's real-time data analysis capabilities to automatically alert homeowners to abnormal activity on their property before a break-in can occur. VoltDB's modern, scalable and reliable platform is a great asset for companies in the security industry."
