Myers Named Game Commission Southcentral Region Director
HUNTINGDON, Pa., Aug. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Game Commission Executive Director Carl G. Roe today announced that Bradley Myers has been appointed as the new region director for the agency's Southcentral Regional Office in Huntingdon, Huntingdon County. Myers fills the vacancy created when Rob Criswell retired recently.
As regional director, Myers will be responsible for all Game Commission information and education programs and law enforcement activities in the agency's 12-county Southcentral Region. He also will continue to oversee the habitat improvement projects and all other land management activities on more than 210,000 acres of State Game Lands in the region.
Myers became a Game Commission Wildlife Conservation Officer trainee in the 21st Class of the Ross Leffler School of Conservation. Upon graduation in 1992, he was assigned to serve as a Wildlife Conservation Officer (WCO) in the Northwest Region, serving in both Jefferson and Forest counties, until transferring to a Land Management Group Supervisor position for Jefferson and Clarion counties in 1996.
In 2004, Myers became the Bureau of Wildlife Habitat Management's Federal/State Coordination Division chief in the agency's Harrisburg office. In 2006, Myers returned to his roots to serve as a WCO in Armstrong County. Having a passion for Land Management, Myers again became a Land Management Group Supervisor, in 2007, in Blair and Huntingdon counties, until being promoted to Southcentral Region Land Management Supervisor in 2010.
Myers had a previous career in private industry working for both Rockwell International in DuBois, Clearfield County, and the U.S. Tobacco Company in Nashville, Tennessee, before joining the Game Commission. He grew up in a family with a very strong hunting camp tradition, which ultimately led him to the career change.
A native of Kittanning, Armstrong County, Myers graduated from DuBois High School and DuBois-Jefferson County Vo-Tech. He and his wife, Suzanne, currently reside in Martinsburg, Blair County. They have three children: Jacqueline, Sarah and Wyatt.
The agency's Southcentral Region is comprised of: Adams, Bedford, Blair, Cumberland, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, Perry, Snyder and York counties. The office is at 8627 William Penn Highway, Huntingdon, PA 16652. The phone number is 814-643-1831.
