Myca Health Appoints Steven Ferguson Patient Management Officer
Seasoned product management leader to champion new vision for ambulatory care
NEW YORK, Dec. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Myca Health Inc. announced today the appointment of Steven Ferguson as the company's patient management officer. Mr. Ferguson, formerly vice president of product management, will be assuming the new leadership role effective immediately. Myca Health is the developer of the cloud-based Hello Health® platform which connects patients and their primary care physician together through an integrated electronic health record and online patient portal. The Hello Health patient management system is marketed in the U.S. through New York City-based, Hello Health, Inc. On December 5-7, Hello Health will be exhibiting at the mHealth Summit in National Harbor, MD in the Qualcomm Wireless Health Pavilion.
"I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Ferguson to this important new role as our company's first patient management officer," said Nat Findlay, CEO and founder of Myca Health. "This position reflects our company's commitment to bringing a new generation of technology to primary care that goes beyond the inherent limitations of traditional electronic health records. As one of the principal architects of the Hello Health patient management platform, Steven is uniquely qualified to share our vision for collaborative online care that connects patients and their primary care physician together through a shared and secure online platform and which represents a powerful revenue generating business model to sustain the vitality of primary care practices."
In his new capacity, Ferguson will be engaging with clinical and technology thought-leaders as an ambassador of Hello Health's patient management vision and seeking technology and business development opportunities to continue to advance the capabilities of the platform.
Patient Management defines a new era of technology for primary care practices that expands on prior generations of practice management and traditional electronic health records marketed today. It recognizes the importance of an electronic health record but considers it part of an integrated platform that engages the patient with a bi-directional patient portal with secure communication tools to access their health information and their care team. It recognizes that patients are fundamentally health care consumers who expect greater online access and convenience and are willing to pay for it. It's about restoring the vitality of primary care with a no-cost solution to primary care practices that also provides incremental revenue.
"As long as an EHR is largely defined as a documentation system, even if it is free, it is an incomplete response to the needs of today's primary care practice," said Ferguson. "We are at a unique moment in health care today where we can leverage the momentum for electronic health records to address larger issues. Primary care is vital to our health care system. Primary care practices are at risk because the business model is broken. Technology can engage patients with their health information and their physician like never before and bring a much-needed source of revenue for primary care doctors. And with patients and their physicians sharing information and access together on a single platform, we have a foundation for better health care management."
