MWW Grows Trenton Office With Acquisition of Capital Public Affairs; Steven E. Some Appointed SVP, General Manager
CPA Founder and Former Advisor to Republican Presidents Joins MWW's Leadership Team and National Public Affairs Practice
TRENTON, N.J., Jan. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- MWW (www.mww.com), one of the top ten global independent public relations firms, announced today that it has acquired Capital Public Affairs, Inc. (CPA), one of the state's leading public affairs and government relations firms. As part of the agreement, CPA Partner and President Steven E. Some has joined MWW as senior vice president and general manager of the firm's Trenton office. MWW's Trenton office will also absorb CPA's team of public affairs experts, which includes specialists in government relations, coalition building, issues management and grassroots campaigns. Staff joining MWW's Trenton office will include core members of CPA's leadership team including Stephen D. Reid and Tom Cosentino.
"By acquiring Capital Public Affairs, we are combining one of the most influential public affairs firms in New Jersey with the talented team in MWW's Trenton office," said Michael W. Kempner, president and CEO of MWW. "This acquisition is a natural fit and deepens our relationships on both sides of the aisle."
Added Kempner, "Steven Some brings tremendous leadership to our Trenton office and to our national public affairs team. He is an authority on legislative and public affairs issues and has an extensive network of relationships that span from Trenton and Washington, DC to cities throughout the nation."
As SVP and general manager, Some will guide the growth and operations of MWW's Trenton office as well as provide counsel to many of the firm's clients. Some brings more than three decades of public affairs and government relations experience at both the state and federal level. In addition to his role at MWW, Some will continue to serve as a political commentator and contributor to major media outlets including FOX News Channel and the Newark Star-Ledger.
Prior to founding Capital Public Affairs in 1993, Some had served in several appointive positions in the administration of President Ronald Reagan within the Department of Labor and Department of the Interior. While at Capital Public Affairs, he was appointed to various Presidential commissions including the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council and the U.S. Commission for the Preservation of America's Heritage Abroad. A prominent and visible advocate for Holocaust remembrance, Some was also appointed by former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman to be chairman of the NJ Commission on Holocaust Education, and was appointed by Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Stuart Eisenstadt to the U.S. delegation to the first International Conference on Holocaust Education and Research in Stockholm.
"Joining MWW is an exciting step for our agency and by partnering with the most established, bi-partisan firm in the state, we're immediately able to offer a wider platform of services to our clients," said Some. "From both a practice and a cultural standpoint, this is a terrific fit. MWW's entrepreneurial spirit and results-driven approach align with our own values, and our firms' suite of services perfectly complement one another."
The general manager position at MWW's Trenton office had previously been held by longtime MWW executive Kevin Frechette, who passed away in September.
