"We are thrilled to be offering these two concerts that truly showcase talented musicians," said Robin L. McEachern, First Presbyterian's Minister of Music.
Led by Conductor, Kathleen Ebling-Shaw, the Westminster Concert Bell Choir from Princeton, New Jersey, will be on their winter concert tour in South Florida. The ensemble performs on the largest set of handbells in the world and promises a spectacular program of all kinds of music. Many of the bells are made of bronze and range in weight from four ounces to 11 pounds; the Choir also uses the large "Basso Profundo" aluminum-cast bells that are a new phenomenon in handbell ringing. The Choir supplements its handbells with a six-octave set of Malmark Choirchime instruments from C2 to C8 – the widest range in existence.
Then on February 22, 2015, Fort Lauderdale native, Ashley Palmer Lindsay, Soprano will perform An Evening of Stories and Songs. Ashley will share stories about the songs that inspired her to become a singer. She studied voice at Northwestern University in Illinois, and sings in the church's Cathedral Choir and Contemporary Worship service. Ashley has sung Broadway, Opera and Oratorio, Musical Theater, and sacred music at First Presbyterian. Her personal insights, as well as her beautiful voice, will make for a great evening of music.
While both concerts are free and open to the public, an offering will be collected to help support the music ministry's future programming.
