Music Sensation Austin Mahone Brings His Madame Tussauds Wax Figure To The Nation's Capital
The iconic attraction joined forces with Girls' Life Magazine at their Fitness Fest to welcome the superstar's figure to the D.C. area for a limited time only
WASHINGTON, May 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Madame Tussauds Washington, DC welcomed teen pop star Austin Mahone's incredibly lifelike wax figure. The figure, which was launched by Madame Tussauds Orlando in 2015, will be featured alongside other musical icons such as Miley Cyrus, Beyoncé and One Direction at the famed Washington, DC location through July 2016.
In order to celebrate its newest arrival, Madame Tussauds partnered with Girl's Life Magazine to showcase the Mahone figure for the first time in DC at their annual Fitness Fest, where young women from the metro area were invited to participate in healthy living activities including yoga workshops, craft, stylish trunk shows and much more. Mahone's lucky fans, affectionately known as "mahomies," onsite were able to see Austin "in person" before the figure traveled to Madame Tussauds for the remainder of its stay in Washington.
"We are so happy to offer our visitors the chance to see Austin Mahone in our attraction. By bringing the figure to Fitness Fest, we were able to give a sneak preview to some of his biggest fans who were participating in the healthy and fun event," said Therese Alvich, General Manager Madame Tussauds Washington, DC. "At Madame Tussauds, we are excited to welcome Austin's devoted fans before the figure returns to its home in Orlando in July!"
Each Madame Tussauds figure is truly a work of art, involving teams of professional artists and sculptors who spend months on extensive research to create the kind of astonishing realism that has been at the heart of the 250-year Madame Tussauds legacy. To create the incredibly lifelike figure, Austin met with studio artists in 2015 to take more than 250 measurements and to perfectly color-match his skin, hair and eyes. He also worked with Madame Tussauds artists to identify a pose that best reflects his personal look. The fashion-forward celebrity also donated his own clothing to put his signature stamp on the figure. The figure is even wearing a replica of the silver bracelet Mahone's mother made him. When Austin Mahone helped reveal his figure for the first time last year, the singer was blown away by the attention to detail and its uncanny accuracy.
Born in San Antonio, TX, the 19 year-old has become a worldwide teen sensation over the last few years with an active and growing fan base. Mahone has been nominated for more than 20 different awards over the last two years. The pop artist has won numerous awards from MTV, EMA's Best Push Artist and Artist on the Rise, and The Teen Choice Award for Breakout Artist.
Signing with Chase Records/ Cash Money/ Republic Records, Mahone has come a long way with his pop music career. His first EP, The Secret debuted in the top five on Billboard's top 200 chart. Pitbull (another Madame Tussauds Orlando figure) and Flo Rida have been featured artists on Mahone's songs. Mahone has also opened for Taylor Swift's RED tour. His most recent single, Dirty Work, debuted on July 2, 2015 and has garnered critical acclaim and one million video views in just one day. Dirty Work is the lead single from his highly anticipated debut full length album set for later this year.
