"Through the years, Musco Lighting's commitment to our national parks has been unwavering, continually providing new, energy efficient ways to light some of our nation's most treasured places," said Neil Mulholland, President and CEO of the National Park Foundation. "This generous donation of time, expertise and equipment is a testament to the importance of this project and our mutual commitment to ensure the 40 heroes of Flight 93 are never forgotten."
"We are proud to be a part of the team developing this important Memorial," said Joe Crookham, President, Musco Lighting.
Working in cooperation with the National Park Foundation, National Park Service and Paul Murdoch Architects, Musco Lighting will develop a custom lighting system for the memorial that achieves the image planned by the architect, which minimizes energy and maintenance costs and preserves the dark sky environment. For phase one of the project, Musco will be involved in providing lighting to public areas including the memorial plaza as well as lighting one of the memorial's most important features - the paneled wall inscribed with names of the passengers and crew of United Flight 93.
"We are very happy that the Flight 93 National Memorial joins a growing list of national park experiences improved by innovative lighting solutions developed by Musco," said Joanne Hanley, superintendent, National Parks of Western Pennsylvania. "Their understanding of the special needs of the Flight 93 National Memorial is greatly appreciated and ensures that the focus of our efforts remains on the 40 brave passengers and crewmembers of Flight 93."
Specializing in custom, efficient lighting solutions on the grandest scale, this is just the latest in a series of projects that Musco Lighting has taken on in support of the National Park Foundation. In previous years, Musco has provided in-kind services to light some of our nation's most well-known national parks and monuments including the White House, the Washington Monument and Big Bend National Park among others. In each case Musco greatly improved the appearance of each site, so they could be admired by visitors at night. With each national park project, Musco has worked closely with the Foundation to ensure the most energy efficient lighting practices available.

About the Flight 93 National Memorial
On Sept. 24, 2002, Congress passed the Flight 93 National Memorial Act. The Act created a new national park unit to commemorate the passengers and crew of Flight 93 who, on September 11, 2001, courageously gave their lives thereby thwarting a planned attack on our nation's capital. The memorial is outside Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where Flight 93 crashed with the loss of its 40 passengers and crew. About the National Park Foundation
The National Park Foundation is the philanthropic and promotional partner of America's national parks. Chartered by Congress, we work hand in hand with the National Park Service to strengthen and connect all Americans to their parks, so they are protected for present and future generations. It is a legacy that began more than a century ago, when private citizens took action to first establish, then protect and endow our national parks. Today, the National Park Foundation carries on that tradition as the only congressionally chartered charitable partner for America's national parks. To learn more visit www.nationalparks.org.
