"We have been amazed by the tremendous stories that have been told through the grant applications," said CytoSport Chief Marketing Officer Nikki Brown. "Whether the recipient school needs updated uniforms, safe workout equipment or upgraded facilities, one of the major themes within every application is the sense of pride that will be instilled with each grant. We are so excited to be able to assist in the development of these student-athletes and provide a brighter future for these athletic programs across the country."
Grants vary in the amount awarded based on each school's requested need and will be provided to the school to fund their revitalizations as outlined in their application.
"This is a huge blessing. You don't know how much stress lifts when you come into a season wondering if we have a budget," said Brian Burks, head football coach at Compton High School. "Sports can provide different avenues for kids who might not be motivated or have opportunities, and my goal is to change the culture of the program and allow that to illuminate out to the rest of the school. This grant is going to provide basic football equipment for us-so now we can afford things that championship teams have."
Muscle Milk athlete and All Pro linebacker Clay Matthews teamed up with the program to award one Wisconsin high school athletic program with a Muscle Milk Recovery Grant. Waukesha North High School in Waukesha, WI., will receive a grant to fund upgrades to their weight room, which will provide their student-athletes with safe equipment to properly train.
