WPX Energy, Inc. Research Reports
On August 18, 2014, WPX Energy, Inc. (WPX) announced that it has executed multiple agreements which will enable the Company to divest its mature coalbed methane holdings and expand its high growth San Juan oil acreages by more than 50%. WPX said that it will sell its remaining mature, coalbed methane holdings in the Powder River Basin for $155 million in cash. As a part of the deal, the Company will also release firm transportation with $30 million in future demand obligations. In 2013, the production in the basin represented approximately 14% of the Company's total production, but generated only 5% of WPX's adjusted EBITDAX results. WPX expects the transaction to improve its consolidated operating cost structure for lease operating, gathering and transport expenses. WPX further added that it now controls 26,000 additional acres in San Juan Basin's Gallup oil window, an acreage increase of more than 50% since May. On August 12, 2014, Johnson Controls Inc. (Johnson Controls) unveiled its new 6,000-square-foot crash test facility at its Automotive Seating headquarters in Plymouth, Michigan. The Company stated that the new facility houses a Seattle Safety ServoSled that allows the automotive supplier to offer the most accurate, standardized safety testing of seats globally through collaboration with its other testing facilities. Johnson Controls said that its new lab also addresses increasingly stringent and precise governmental seat safety specifications as well as its customers' expectations for a testing environment that meets evolving industry standards.
