Almost 2,600 skilled nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, home-health agencies, long-term acute care facilities and other post-acute providers in 31 states and the District of Columbia now utilize Curaspan industry-leading software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications to manage referrals and deepen connections with more than 350 referring facilities. That's a 30 percent increase YTD over 2009 in the number of post-acute providers that are Curaspan customers.
"Curaspan has made a big impact on our business," says Patricia Buiocchi, vice president of business development and strategic planning for the Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital Network. Northeast Rehab specializes in acute rehabilitation and services for stroke and traumatic neurological injuries at sites in Salem and Nashua, N.H.; next year it will be opening a third facility in Portsmouth.
"We deliver quality care more quickly, by being better able to respond to referrals. The Curaspan software application is so user-friendly and powerful that we've been able to reduce the liaison workload for patient screens by about 20 percent while getting more, quality information that gives us a better picture of each patient," adds Buiocchi.
With the Curaspan ReferralCentral™ application, post-acute providers utilize a more secure and efficient means of receiving targeted, timely referrals than fax blasts and voice mail. Easy to use after 15 minutes of training, it includes a matching algorithm for level of care, clinical requirements and geography, and it generates reports detailing referral volume, placement rate and patient-payer mix for each referring hospital — key business intelligence for optimizing operations.
"Providing tangible benefits such as continuously updated data that can make a bottom-line difference for our customers is at the core of what we do," says Thomas R. Ferry, president and CEO of Curaspan. "We're delighted with the vote of confidence that our post-acute providers have shown in us."
In addition to Northeast Rehab, Curaspan works with many of the nation's top hospitals and post-acute care providers. National post-acute accounts include Airamid Health Management, Amedisys Home Health Services, American Outcomes Management, Apria Healthcare, Coram Specialty Infusion Services, Genesis HealthCare, Gentiva Health Services, Greystone Healthcare Management, LaVie Management Service and SunBridge Healthcare.
Providers with national agreements in place automatically are able to use Curaspan Web-based software in new markets where Curaspan is building networks. National accounts also benefit from a single contact for account management and easy-to-manage centralized billing.
Curaspan Web-based software, combined with the Curaspan Provider Data Bank™ and proprietary network-building methodology, will generate approximately 2 million provider matches this year. The Curaspan Provider Data Bank is the most comprehensive and up-to-date repository of data about acute and post-acute facilities and agencies nationwide.
