Muckraker Greg Palast to Discuss New Book on Free Speech TV
DENVER, Nov. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Independent news network Free Speech TV announced today that investigative reporter Greg Palast will be in FSTV's Denver studio to discuss his latest book, Vultures' Picnic, on Saturday, November 19th, 2011.
Palast is best known as the investigative reporter who uncovered how Katherine Harris purged thousands of African-Americans from Florida's voting rolls in the 2000 Presidential Election. Once called "a cross between Sam Spade and Sherlock Holmes" by commentator/humorist Jim Hightower, Palast turned to journalism after two decades as a top investigator of corporate fraud and racketeering.
FSTV Executive Director Don Rojas said, "It's an extraordinary privilege to bring this live discussion with Greg to our viewers across the country. Starting with the tragic BP oil spill and spreading out to other acts of environmental and economic devastation, Vultures' Picnic lays out a feast of stories about how Big Oil and Big Banks collude to put profits over people and the planet."
"During this historic moment when 'the 99%' of the Occupy Movement are speaking out against growing inequality, injustice and corruption, Greg's book is sure to strike a resonant chord," Rojas continued. Palast will be signing copies of Vultures' Picnic at the Free Speech TV studios, and those signed copies will then be offered to FSTV viewers for a tax-deductible contribution.
This special event will be broadcast, starting Saturday, November 19th at 5:30 p.m. ET, and it will then be repeated throughout FSTV's membership drive. Free Speech TV broadcasts on DIRECTV 348, DISH Network 9415, the FSTV Roku channel and on over 200 cable affiliates nationwide. It streams at www.freespeech.org.
