EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn., June 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors, announced today that they have been selected by the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) to supply advanced mechanical testing equipment to be used in KIST's research programs. KIST is investigating the use of new composite materials as they research how to improve the performance and fuel efficiency of airplanes and vehicles.

Founded in 1966, KIST is the premiere Korean institute dedicated to the exploration, discovery and development of new materials for the aerospace and automotive industries. The test system supplied by MTS will be used to determine the physical properties of newly developed and existing composite materials. These new, advanced materials are designed to be lightweight for energy efficiency, while possessing the strength and resiliency to withstand the extreme environments of aircraft, and the durability and performance needed in vehicle development.
