EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, Feb. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- MTS Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: MTSC), a leading global supplier of high-performance test systems and position sensors, continues to take steps to bring its engineering expertise closer to important clusters of industrial activity to better serve its customers. On January 23, the company announced the grand opening of its newest manufacturing facility in Guildford, UK.
The Guildford site will focus on making advances in energy recovery technology, including the development and manufacture of next-generation electric power systems (EPS) and solutions for more efficient vehicles. Key applications for such technology include racing and other motorsports, where performance is critical, as well as mass market electric and hybrid-power automobiles and aerospace applications.
The location in the south east of England is well-positioned to support the recent electrification expansion of premier European motorsports teams involved in competitions such as Formula 1, the World Endurance Championships (WEC) and Formula E. The official opening of the new MTS facility was attended by representatives from McLaren Applied Technologies, rFpro, Williams Grand Prix Engineering Ltd, Qinetiq, Unico, the University of Surrey, the Ford Motor Company, Jaguar Land Rover, Scuderia Toro Rosso, and Ferrari.
