MTN Satellite Communications and ERZIA Recognized as Top Teleport Operators of 2011 by the World Teleport Association
Santander Teleport Achieves Highest Ranking in the Fast Twenty List with 531 Percent Annual Growth
MIRAMAR, Fla., Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- MTN Satellite Communications (MTN), the global provider of communications, connectivity and content services to remote locations around the world, today announced that the World Teleport Association (WTA) ranked the Santander Teleport, a joint venture between MTN and ERZIA Technologies S.L., number one on the Fast Twenty list. WTA recognized the teleport for its 531 percent growth over the past year.
Based in Spain, the Santander Teleport serves as a centralized gateway for MTN's VSAT communications, supporting coverage over the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. It allows access to C-Band, Ku-Band and Secure X-Band services from a single location for commercial and government organizations. The facility advances network efficiency, reliability and customer service to increase MTN's worldwide infrastructure of teleports and dedicated fiber optics links. In addition, the Santander Teleport's 24/7 network operations center (NOC) delivers European time zone coverage and local language operators to global customers.
"Since opening earlier this year, the Santander Teleport has experienced strong success, demonstrating the industry's need for this facility in the region," said Richard Hadsall, CTO at MTN. "From its unique position on the Iberian Peninsula, the Santander Teleport offers reliable and efficient communications to customers on our global infrastructure. The immense growth the facility has seen this year and its selection on the Fast Twenty list is a testament to the market's demand. We are proud to be recognized at the top of this prestigious list."
In 2010, MTN's Holmdel Teleport was named to the Fast Twenty list – the first time the company was included in the ranking. The Fast Twenty ranks all teleport-operating companies, including independents, satellite carriers, fiber carriers and technology providers, based on year-over-year revenue growth. The rankings were first published in 2004 with data from WTA's Teleport Benchmarks report. WTA focuses on improving the business of satellite communications, supporting the interests of teleport operators in the global telecommunications market, and advance excellence in teleport business practice, technology and operations.
