MTBC EHR Among the First to be Used for Successful Meaningful Use Stage 2 Attestation
SOMERSET, N.J., May 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- MTBC, a leading provider of fully-integrated, cloud-based healthcare IT solutions, today announced that MTBC EHR is among a select group of electronic health records (EHR) that has already been used to support Meaningful Use Stage 2.
Under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), an eligible provider who attests to Meaningful Use of an EHR (such as MTBC EHR) that is certified by the Office of the National Coordinator-Authorized Certification Body (ONC-ACB), is eligible to earn incentives and avoid penalties. On January 1, 2014, the newest Meaningful Use requirements, known as "Stage 2", became effective; yet as of May 15, 2014, fewer than 20% of the complete ambulatory EHRs certified under Stage 1 had succeeded in obtaining Stage 2 certification.
In discussing Stage 2 requirements, MTBC's Medical Director, Adarsh Gupta, D.O., M.S., F.A.C.O.F.P., explained, "As of today, only 50 of the nation's 537,600 eligible providers have attested under the new Stage 2 requirements. We believe that MTBC EHR is uniquely designed to support Stage 2 and we're very pleased to be one of a small number of EHRs that was used by this first group of pioneering providers to attest under Stage 2."
Stephen Snyder, MTBC President said, "Stage 2 requirements present a serious challenge to providers who are not using an intuitive, integrated platform that supports interoperability and patient engagement, while providing real-time feedback regarding Stage 2 adherence. Our platform uniquely addresses all of these challenges and equips providers to thrive under Stage 2."
MTBC EHR seamlessly incorporates all Stage 2 functionalities on one integrated platform, including an intuitive Meaningful Use dashboard and robust patient portal, together with dedicated Meaningful Use coaches who, at no additional cost, facilitate providers in achieving Stage 2 compliance. These resources support comprehensive Meaningful Use without disrupting physician workflow.
"In addition to being among the first EHRs used to attest under Stage 2, we are also pleased to announce that 98% of MTBC EHR users who leveraged our Meaningful Use coaching program successfully attested under Stage 1," said Stephen Snyder, MTBC President. He further explained, "We look forward to continuing support to our customers for Stage 2, and believe that they will remain on the leading edge of EHR utilization."
