M&T Bank Offers Financial Assistance to Residents and Businesses Affected by Flooding
BUFFALO, N.Y., Sept. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- M&T Bank is making a $50,000 contribution to the American Red Cross and extending its financial assistance program to help residents and businesses recover from flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee.
M&T will also match all contributions made to the Red Cross by its employees, directors and retirees for up to an additional $50,000, and will accept contributions from the public at all of its branches for "Susquehanna Flood Relief."
The bank is offering payment deferrals to existing customers and loans with reduced rates to both new and existing customers. Personal unsecured loans with discounted rates are being offered by M&T Bank in Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C., to residents who suffered flood-related damages from Tropical Storm Lee. Additionally, business owners affected by flooding can apply for a line of credit with reduced rates. The special assistance will be available through Oct. 31, 2011.
"The devastating effects of flooding present difficult challenges in our communities, so M&T is providing financial assistance to help families replace belongings, repair homes and cars, and to aid businesses as they get back on their feet," said M&T Bank President Mark Czarnecki.
The bank also is currently offering discounted rates on home equity products and automobile loans. Normal credit qualification standards will still apply to loans.
Existing M&T Bank customers unable to meet their monthly loan payments due to flooding should contact M&T's customer service at 1-800-724-2525 to request a loan payment deferral. All fees will be waived for this service for these customers.
M&T Bank business customers who need to defer a payment should contact their business banking relationship manager or branch manager.
