The photography log contains descriptions of photos taken by MSHA. Photos "0029," "0030," and "0031" correspond with the pictures highlighted on the left side of page six under the "Pictures of Crack in UBB Mine Floor" section on Massey's UBB website (www.masseyubb.com).
An MSHA photographer took photos "0029," "0030," and "0031" on July 14, 2010 at approximately 11:17am. The photographer described the photos with the caption "looking into crack in the floor." The log also notes that the photos were taken on the longwall tailgate.
"Records and pictures taken by MSHA's own officials confirm the presence of a crack in the UBB mine floor," stated Massey Energy's Vice President and General Counsel Shane Harvey. "MSHA officials are the only personnel permitted to take photographs and collect evidence from the UBB mine and their own documentation indicates that there is a crack on the longwall tailgate."
