"We are touched by Ms. He who traveled 12,000 miles to contribute generously to our Youth Safe Heaven program and our other investments in high risk youth," said Dr. Alan Curtis, President and CEO of the Foundation.
The Youth Safe Haven Program provides a secure place for poor inner city children ages 6 - 13 to go after school, during the time each day when they are most likely be unsupervised and become involved in crime, drugs and gangs. Food is provided for the children. For many, it is their most nutritious meal of the day.
Paid and volunteer staff members assist children with their homework. Local police officers also volunteer to mentor youth and establish a relationship with the local community. The Milton S. Eisenhower Foundation is now replicating this model in seven states, helping over 500 children to date.
Ms. He is both a highly successful entrepreneur and a dedicated philanthropist and environmentalist. Collectively, her companies employ over 300 professionals and have worked on many successful projects with Regional Centers across the country, such as the New York City Regional Center and the Cleveland International Fund to attract billions of dollars in investment capital to new U.S. construction projects that have created thousands of jobs.
Ms. He is a member of the first Sino-US Foundation, the "Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation - Pearl S. Buck Foundation" and she is Vice Chairman of the Society of Entrepreneurs & Ecologists.
In addition to her personal six-figure contribution to the Foundation, Ms. He pledged to raise additional funds among her friends and clients to continue to support the Foundation's Youth Safe Haven and related programs. She hopes to continue her involvement with these programs for many years to come.
Ms. He observed "Perhaps, the best way for an investor immigrant to adapt into US society is to contribute to programs that work for the truly disadvantaged and that encourage education and promote upward mobility."
