Klinger to advocate for foster children and the urgent need for foster care families
KINGSPORT, Tenn., July 27, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Mrs. Central States International, Ashley Rae Klinger, 39, of Thompson, North Dakota, was crowned Mrs. International 2020, Saturday, July 25, at the annual Mrs. International Pageant. The event took place at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center, featuring contestants from around the United States – representing many nationalities – competing in three categories, including interview, fitness-wear, and evening gown. Klinger was joined on stage by her husband, Andrew, for her crowning, before an audience excited to be a part of this 35-plus year tradition, set in an environment that ensured the safety of guests and resort associates.
The International Pageants system emphasizes community service with half of each contestant's competition score based on knowledge of and work with her platform. Impacted by infertility, Ashley and her husband are both adoptive and foster parents to four young children. Through her organization BE A FOSTER Movement, she will continue to encourage others impacted by infertility to embrace adoption and foster parenting.
"Now more than ever, as we all do our best to navigate the impact of COVID-19, it's vital that we support some of the most vulnerable members of our society, those being children living in the foster care system," said Klinger. "There's been a tremendous increase in child abuse, neglect and deaths due to recent times of quarantine. I believe we're all called to love and serve children living in at-risk environments and in need of the comforts of a stable home and loving family. My new role as Mrs. International 2020 will help me amplify my mission locally, nationally and globally."
BE A FOSTER Movement offers several virtual programs and services, including panel discussions, support groups and foster parent continuing education. Klinger also supports FosterMore's national campaign to encourage employers to provide work environments that are supportive of foster parents.
The Mrs. International Pageant is the only platform- based system and is owned and operated by International Pageants, Inc., which also operates the Miss, Miss Teen and Miss Pre-Teen International competitions. Mrs. International showcases married women 21 to 56-years-old and includes their husbands as an integral part of the program. For more information, visit www.mrsinternational.com.
