MRIGlobal Scientist Named to Missouri Energy Solutions Industry Panel
Stan Bull is appointed to support council for economic development
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Nov. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Stanley R. Bull, Ph.D., Director of Energy Science and Technology at MRIGlobal and Director Emeritus of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, has been appointed to serve on the Energy Solutions Industry Council, one of seven councils formed by the Missouri Department of Economic Development to maximize economic growth opportunities.
Bull has more than 35 years of experience in energy and related applications, including renewable energy, energy efficiency, bioenergy, wind, photovoltaics, hybrid vehicles, hydrogen, geothermal, and basic energy research. He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees from Stanford University and a B.S. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Earlier this year, Bull was named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
"Stan's appointment is recognition of his depth of knowledge and expertise in the energy industry," said Michael F. Helmstetter, President and CEO of MRIGlobal. "We're proud to have Stan supporting the development of energy solutions for Missouri."
The councils are a result of the Missouri Strategic Initiative for Economic Growth, launched by Governor Jay Nixon in May 2010. The initiative produced a report that identifies steps to develop a "long-term, sustainable, 21st century growth economy." The seven councils will address targeted industry clusters that are the priority for statewide economic development.
The councils are assigned to assess obstacles to growth of industry in Missouri, and to develop recommendations to address those challenges. The councils will develop a report of their findings and recommendations, which will be included in an annual report from the initiative Steering Committee to the governor.
