KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 9, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- MRIGlobal today announced changes in leadership that will align the defense and health units to synergize capabilities and adjust to changes in client needs. The move entails two key corporate promotions. Robert A. Conklin and Roger K. Harris, Ph.D., are now vice presidents.
Both long-tenured experts in their respective fields, Conklin and Harris report to Thomas M. Sack, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer of MRIGlobal and are responsible for the technical and financial performance of their respective areas.
Robert A. Conklin, former Director of Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, is now Vice President of Defense and Infrastructure. With more than 25 years of service to MRIGlobal, Mr. Conklin's new responsibility includes technical and financial performance of all biosurveillance, engineering, energy, infrastructure, and chemical defense work.
Under Mr. Conklin's direction, MRIGlobal's growth and expansion of mobile laboratory solutions developed and evolved. Since 2002, Mr. Conklin has been spearheading the custom design, construction, equipment, and staffing of portable, rugged, sophisticated, and reliable MRIGlobal mobile laboratories and medical transport systems. Last year, MRIGlobal's mobile solutions were quickly deployed to Africa to aid in the Ebola health crisis.
Roger K. Harris, Ph.D., former Associate Vice President, Global Health Security, is now Vice President, Global Health Security. In his new position, Dr. Harris will oversee all aspects of research across MRIGlobal business areas of Diagnostics, Medical Countermeasures, and Product Development and Repository Management.
In nearly 30 years of research and management expertise at MRIGlobal, Dr. Harris has managed programs and staffing from a vast array of research areas including: Avian influenza research; the development and evaluation of field crops for use as a biomass feedstock; and the National Cancer Institute's Chemopreventative Agent Repository. Dr. Harris served as Principal Investigator for the National Toxicology Program, one of MRIGlobal's longest running programs.

Robert Conklin earned his Master's degree in Physical Chemistry from University of Denver and a B.S. in Chemistry from Morningside College.
Dr. Harris has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Pennsylvania State University and a B.A. in Chemistry from Ithaca College.
