Mr. President: Let's Weed Out Hate and Sow the Seeds of Peace!
Modern Day Johnny Appleseed Urges Obama to Call Kids to White House for 'Peace Planting'
NEW YORK, Jan. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In his new book Der Himmelsgarten (The Heavenly Garden), Marc Daniels, eldest grandson of Ross Daniels, the inventor of the Ross Root Feeder®, asks President Barack Obama to root feed our ecological, educational and spiritual roots.

Daniels, author and Chair of the Weed-Out-Hate Initiative, proposes that the President invite youngsters to the White House for a televised 'Weed Out Hate' peace planting where they can demonstrate with their hands what Dr. King longed for in his heart -- Peace.
According to Daniels, "My goal is to carry the torch and take my grandfather's vision to the next level -- to better connect future generations of gardeners and kindergartners with nature to improve the landscape of our lives."
Daniel's campaign began in August of 2010 at the Lincoln Home National Historic Site in Springfield, IL. Last week, Springfield students received peace seeds commemorating Martin Luther King Day. What started as a local initiative has now blossomed into in a full-fledged grass roots social action campaign. Like a contemporary Johnny Appleseed, the budding bi-lingual author has seeded his ideas through gifts of Peace Seeds to schools and garden centers throughout the United States and Germany. Students are distributing Peace Seeds in Times Square as this story breaks.
Says Daniels, "Sunflowers, like peace, require much more than hope to flourish. They crave to be nurtured." He added, "Let's honor Dr. King's memory literally and figuratively by extracting our own weed seeds of hate and prejudice. Freed from such negativity, not only will our spirits bloom anew, but so will our land." Good advice in troubled times.
