Mphasis Launches Digital Accessibility Roadmap; Appoints Cristopher Broyles as Chief Accessibility Officer
BENGALURU, India and SAN JOSE, Calif., May 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mphasis, a leading IT services and solutions provider, today launched its digital accessibility practice with the appointment of Cristopher Broyles as Chief Accessibility Officer.
Mphasis prides itself as the first IT solutions group to build accessible technologies, and as a pioneer in the industry; Cristopher's appointment marks Mphasis' aim to grow rapidly in this space. Cristopher will spearhead Mphasis' internal digital accessibility practices & processes and training capabilities to educate customers – particularly in the financial services vertical. Cristopher will also be responsible for the development and delivery of customizable and accessible end-to-end solutions that leverage tool-agnostic intelligent resourcing, strategic consulting, best-in-market experience, as well as industry best-practices.
Mphasis already has a strong history of advocacy and success in accessibility, receiving the NCPEDP-Shell Helen Keller Award and President's Award for inclusion and employment of individuals with disabilities. Mphasis found that the lack of accessible assets means losing out on 20% of quality talent; over 400 of their employees are with disability/s.
Cristopher brings over 10 years of extensive work on providing accessibility, both physical and digital, to ensure optimal user experiences for all users, in federal and state government, education, and industry. He joins Mphasis after having served as the Acting Chief Accessibility Officer for Perkins School for the Blind, one of the oldest and best known schools for the visually impaired. His federal experience includes positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, where Cristopher successfully led a five year, department-wide, web-accessibility remediation effort that encompassed governance, education, marketing and policy.
"Given one in five of us will have a disability at some point in time in our lives, it's crucial for enterprises to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), especially since the growing list of digital assets makes digital accessibility critical. This is particularly true in the case of financial services, where self-service is becoming central to the digital experience," said Yesh Subramanian, Senior Vice-President and Head of Digital, Mphasis. "Consequently, growing our digital accessibility practice is core to Mphasis' strategic vision and our digital business. We are excited to have Cristopher on board. His leadership, domain expertise and wide industry experience will help organizations implement design and assistive technology driven solutions that assist both customers and employees alike access information and participate in the digital experience."
"Joining Mphasis is an exciting opportunity, as I have long championed accessibility across industries. I have implemented successful, sustainable accessibility programs across many verticals, but providing digital accessibility to banking, insurance, brokerage and wealth management is a particularly dynamic space. There is so much potential to help optimize user experience and digital accessibility for all users. All users should be able to read their bank statements, use bill pay, transfer funds, and complete stock trades independently, and I am committed to making that happen," said Cristopher Broyles, Chief Accessibility Officer in Digital, Mphasis.
Cristopher Broyles' timely appointment comes around Global Accessibility Day on May 19, which aims to "get people talking, thinking and learning about digital (web, software, mobile, etc.) accessibility and users with different disabilities.
