Mozido to Take Part in Mexican American Leadership Initiative Awards Brunch Honoring Hillary Rodham Clinton
Mozido is finalizing partnerships that will allow seamless mobile financial transactions between the U.S. and Mexico
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Mozido, a global leader in white-label, mobile financial, commercial and marketing services, will participate in the Mexican American Leadership Initiative (MALI) Awards Brunch Honoring Hillary Rodham Clinton on Nov. 9, 2013. Mozido's sponsorship and presence at this event, which emphasizes the importance of U.S.-Mexico partnerships, come as Mozido forms strategic alliances that will allow mobile financial transactions to take place seamlessly between the two countries.
Mozido is forming strategic alliances with AMUCSS, a world-renowned micro-financing organization in Mexico, and SF Global, a leader in transnational mobile debit solutions. Working with Mozido and AMUCSS affiliate Envios Confianza, SF Global will implement its prepaid debit card and ID program in the U.S. and Mexico. After being established in Oakland, CA, SF Global's debit card and ID program was named one of the top 15 innovations from cities across the U.S. and World by the Center for an Urban Future and NYU Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
The strategic alliance between Mozido, AMUCSS and SF Global will create a cross-border mobile wallet ecosystem that allows individuals across U.S. and Mexico borders to access mobile financial services, including a debit card, bill pay, remittances, micro savings, micro credit and micro insurance.
"Mozido is driven by its vision that mobile technology can fundamentally change the financial lives of individuals around the world who do not have access to bank accounts," said Michael Liberty, Founder of Mozido and of The Liberty Family Foundation, which is also a sponsor of the MALI Awards Brunch. "Our efforts to allow seamless mobile transactions between the unbanked in the U.S. and Mexico are right in line with MALI's emphasis on fostering partnerships between these two countries. We are proud to sponsor this event and be a part of recognizing Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for her tremendous support of MALI's efforts."
"Our innovative mobile financial ecosystem is designed to empower underserved families with the tools to be financially independent and secure," said Dr. Raul Hinojosa, Chairman and CEO of SF Global LLC and an original founding member of MALI. "Giving millions of families without bank accounts access to a wide range of financial services is crucial when it comes to creating sustainable change."
"AMUCSS has seen first-hand the benefits that financial innovations can have when delivered to rural and underserved communities in Mexico," said Isabel Cruz, Director of AMUCSS. "We are proud to enter this alliance for harnessing 21st Century technologies to empower and sustain indigenous world communities throughout Mexico and the U.S. with mobile financial tools and services."
Envios Confianza is a non-profit money transfer service in Mexico created as a wide network of micro financial institutions operating primarily in rural communities. It is directly responsive to the needs of people in these communities by bringing remittance services closer to those in need: low-income, transnational rural families. While Mozido, SF Global and AMUCSS seek to serve individuals in the U.S. and throughout Mexico, the organizations will begin deploying the full range of their services – through Envios Confianza - to families in Oaxaca and Yucatan as part of a pilot program.
The full range of Mozido, SF Global and AMUCSS services includes enabling Mozido Agents to perform cash-back transactions to consumers paying with debit cards through the Mozido Wallet payment process at local stores equipped with the Mozido mVault™. The Mozido mVault™ technology is one of the world's first B2B digital payment processing platforms and is being deployed with consumer packaged goods companies, reaching even the smallest towns in Oaxaca and Yucatan. These services will soon be available in communities in Oaxaca and Yucatan in collaboration with their Mayan Home Town Associations in Los Angeles, CA.
MALI, of which Dr. Raul Hinojosa is a founding member, has from its inception sought innovative ways to expand its mission of creating closer collaboration between U.S. Mexican communities and Mexican society, particularly working with members of more recent immigration waves. Working together with the University of California, Los Angeles North American Integration and Development Center (UCLA NAID Center), MALI has sought to support transnational community-to-community development projects.
