Move the Big Game to Saturday?
Marco's Pizza Polls Fans and Gives Away Pizzas for Ideas on Ways to Get Through Monday
CLEVELAND, Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The battle lines are once again being drawn among football fans in America. And it's not about which of the two teams will win on February 5th. The debate is whether future championship games should be played on Sunday or moved to Saturday. It's a conversation that starts up every year, and this year Marco's Pizza is carrying the ball on getting Americans to weigh in through an online poll at Facebook.com/MarcosPizza.
In addition to the poll, Marco's Pizza is asking consumers on social media for their best ideas in getting through Monday after all the party festivities on Sunday. And for their ideas, they'll have a chance to win free pizza vouchers.
Sunday has traditionally been the day for the championship game. But all those attending parties to watch the game are forced to choose between enjoying the festivities late into the night and the responsibilities of going to work and school the next day. According to statistics from outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, employers will lose more than $1 billion in lost productivity the Monday after the big game. This includes approximately 16 million who will call in sick or come to work late the next day.
According to the National Retail Federation, pizza is the most popular food served at game day parties, with more than $330 million pizzas sold in one day. Marco's Pizza is also helping those who are hosting parties with an economical way to feed their guests. Marco's Expandable Big Game Packages accommodate any party size. The smallest package starts with a Large 1-Topping Pizza, CheezyBread and 2-Liter for just $17 (Code GD1880). Each additional package adds another Large 1-Topping Pizza for just $7 more. Up to four $7 Large 1-Topping Pizzas can be added. These packages are so special, they're only available online at participating locations. Go to Marco's Facebook page for details.
Marco's was founded by native Italian, Pasquale "Pat" Giammarco in 1978. Today, it's among the fastest-growing pizza franchises in the United States. The company has grown from its roots as a beloved Ohio brand to operate more than 788 stores across the country and three countries.
