ALLIANCE, Ohio, June 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The University of Mount Union is proud to announce that its Physical Therapy (PT) program has received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The program offers the University's first professional doctoral degree.
According to its website, CAPTE is the only accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education to accredit entry-level physical therapist programs. The accreditation comes as a result of several site visits that assess the educational quality in the following areas: students, faculty, curriculum, clinical education sites, policies and procedures, resources, administration, assessment and outcomes.
"This accreditation is the result of countless hours of faculty and staff dedication," said Dr. Robert Frampton, associate professor, chair and program director of the PT program. "The journey began in January of 2014; I have been blessed to work with a talented, devoted team of professionals focused on student success and creating a one-of-a-kind program in physical therapy education."
"The faculty and staff of the PT program did an exceptional job of preparing for the accreditation and engaging with the visiting team while they were on campus as part of their review," said Dr. Jeffrey Breese, vice president for academic affairs at Mount Union. "Bob Frampton's experience and leadership was especially crucial to this successful outcome."
Mount Union's PT program graduated its first cohort at the institution's Commencement on May 18, and PT graduate Ivan Haggins II, of Hudson, Ohio, spoke on behalf of the graduate student body.
