Mount Airy Casino Resort Announces: 2012 Outdoor Summer Concert Series featuring KC and the Sunshine Band, Brian McKnight, Grand Funk Railroad and Collin Raye
MOUNT POCONO, Pa., May 16, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Mount Airy Casino Resort is excited to announce that iconic 70's disco band KC and The Sunshine Band will kick off its 2012 Outdoor Summer Concert Series on Friday, July 20, followed by R&B artist Brian McKnight on Saturday July 28, then country crooner Collin Raye on Friday, Aug. 17, and legendary rockers Grand Funk Railroad on Saturday, Aug. 18.
Founded in 1973 by Harry Wayne Casey, KC and the Sunshine Band have been entertaining audiences around the world for over 37 years. The band's most well-known songs include major disco hits "That's the Way (I Like It)," "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty," "I'm Your Boogie Man," "Keep It Comin' Love," "Get Down Tonight," "Give It Up," and "Please Don't Go."

Singer, songwriter, producer, & multi-instrumentalist Brian McKnight has earned himself several Grammy nominations. In 1992, his self-titled album "Brian McKnight" was released followed by "I Remember You (1995)" and "Anytime (1997)." "Anytime" sold over two million copies and was nominated for a Grammy. In '99 he released "Back at One" on Motown Records which sold over three million copies. He has collaborated with performers across every genre including Quincy Jones, Justin Timberlake, Nelly, Diddy, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, and Kenny G.
Tickets for the July 28 Brian McKnight concert are $55 for VIP seating, $40 for general admission. The show begins at 9 p.m. with gates opening at 7:30 p.m.
Country star Collin Raye made his debut on the American country music scene in 1991 with the release of his debut album "All I Can Be," which produced his first Number One hit, "Love, Me." That album was the first of four consecutive albums released by Raye to achieve platinum status in the United States for sales of one million copies each. The five-time Grammy-nominated male vocalist of the year also produced the top country hit "Butterfly Kisses."
Tickets for the Aug. 17 Collin Raye concert are $30 for VIP seating, $20 for general admission. The show begins at 9 p.m. with gates opening at 7 p.m.
One of the 1970s' most successful hard rock bands, Grand Funk Railroad built a devoted fan base with constant touring, a loud, simple take on the blues-rock power trio sound, and strong working-class appeal. Their anthem rock hits include "Feelin' Alright," "I'm Your Captain," "We're an American Band," and "Some Kind of Wonderful," to name just a few.
Grand Funk Railroad will take to the outdoor stage on Saturday, Aug. 18 at 9 p.m. VIP tickets are $40, general admission seats are $25. Gate time opening has not yet been announced.
