HIV/AIDS awareness has long been at the forefront of Kiehl's philanthropic efforts, and through partnerships with amfAR, the Magic Johnson AIDS Foundation, and YouthAIDS, Kiehl's has proudly donated more than $1,000,000 to the cause.
With the mission to heighten awareness, and raise funds, for amfAR, the company is embarking on the inaugural Kiehl's LifeRide for amfAR, a six-day charity motorcycle ride – from August 2nd – August 7th – along the California coast. With eight stops along the way, featuring fun events and celebrity hosts (such as R Gang Eatery Owner/Executive Chef, Rich Sweeney in San Diego, Cheyenne Jackson of Glee and 30 Rock in Santa Monica and a surprise guest in Westfield Topanga) Kiehl's will make donations at each – totaling $60,000. In celebration of LifeRide, Kiehl's will also introduce a Limited Edition Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 version (featuring a specially-designed motorcycle and flame motif) of its customer favorite, with 100% of Kiehl's net profits from the sale of this product, up to $25,000, to benefit amfAR.
In the spirit of giving, Kiehl's will offer special discounts at each store – the day it is hosting an event. For those unable to attend the events, in honor of the LifeRide, Kiehl's is also delighted to extend complimentary ground shipping and a 10-day supply of Creme de Corps when you purchase the new Limited Edition or standard Ultra Facial Moisturizer SPF 15 online at www.kiehls.com. Simply enter the code LIFERIDE upon checkout – offer expires 8/7/10.
Inspired by Kiehl's history with motorcycles, spirit of adventure, and philanthropic heritage, the ride will be led by Chris Salgardo, President, Kiehl's USA and Alain de Cadenet, Le Mans racer and ESPN "Speed Channel" Host, with reputable motorcycle enthusiasts eager to join the fight against HIV/AIDS, including Peter Fonda, Josh Homme, Timothy White and more.
Key partners include BMW of North America, LLC, Kimpton Hotels, Atelier Ruby Helmets, Tom Ford Eyewear.
"From our inception, it has been Kiehl's mission to always give back to the communities in which we do business," said Chris Salgardo, president, Kiehl's USA. Our company has a long history with motorcycles – in fact we display many of the bikes from our founding family in our stores today. As a motorcycle rider, I'm personally delighted to lead the ride and truly grateful for the generosity of each LifeRide participant. It is an honor to spread amfAR's message throughout my home state."
"Kiehl's has been a valuable and longtime supporter of amfAR's vital research work, and the funds raised through the Kiehl's LifeRide will bring us that much closer to finding a cure for HIV and AIDS," said amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost. "We're thrilled to be partnering with Kiehl's on such a unique event."
